Ode To Rose

Super Pink Guyanese BCC Produced Here

Orchid

Orchid is one of two animals I held back from the pairing of Rose to Mr. Incredible in 2008. Orchid is rare in many ways, but her genetics make her extremely rare. Both of her parents are directly from the Essequibo River delta area in Guyana, South America - thereby making Orchid a captive born and bred locality BCC.

From day one, it was obvious that she had to be held back to raise up. Her pattern was flawless and she was showing an unusual pink and orange coloration with blue flecking on her dorsum, even prior to her first shed. Once she shed, there was no doubt; Orchid was staying here!

"Orchid" seemed like a fitting name for her for two reasons. The first is just the way the orchid flowers look. They look like someone evenly placed beautiful flowers on a vine - much like her pattern. The second is actually from the video game "Killer Instinct" which was an old favorite of mine. Orchid was one of the characters who could perform endless combination moves on their opponents to beat them and their opponents can't ever mount an attack. What went through my mind was how this boa just continually blows me away every time I look at her and no matter how I prepare mentally, I just can't fight back the urge to say "WOW!" The name "Orchid" just fits!

It will be several years before I pair up Orchid with a male for breeding purposes. But I have no doubts that when the time comes, the result will be stunning!
